Fresh of Front | 47 Front Street East

Fresh has been a Toronto staple for vegans, vegetarians, and veg-curious since 1999.

Starting out as a juice bar, Fresh has grown into its own empire with 5 full-service restaurants across Toronto. Most recently, Fresh on Front opened up at 47 Front Street East and was a welcome addition to our city streets.

I decided to pop in. 

Before we even start talking about the delicious food, I was blown away by its location. Just 550 meters from Union Station, Fresh on Front is very accessible to those coming into Toronto for any events, games, or concerts that are in the surrounding area.

This new location is also incredibly spacious and beautifully designed.  

Like the other locations, the menu was packed full of delicious options. Smoothies, and burgers, and bowls – oh my!

Not to mention salads, tacos, cocktails, and of course, juices.

My two friends and I shared quinoa onion rings with chipotle mayo, the clubhouse wrap with sweet potato fries, a baby-sized beach bowl with tofu on brown rice, and the phytosalad.

The quinoa onion rings were crispy and paired very well with the chipotle mayo.

The clubhouse wrap was very flavorful and satisfying, and the sweet potato fries were surprisingly light and not oily at all.

The beach bowl was packed with grilled vegetables, and was an impressive portion for a “baby size”. I also like that the bowls come with an option for soba noodles or brown rice as the base.

The phytosalad was probably my favorite dish – made with soba noodles and microgreens, and topped with nuts, seeds, and a tangy dressing made in-house.

The best thing about our meal is that it was made, as the name suggests, fresh. We left the restaurants feeling satisfied, but not weighed down.

According to their website:

“We make our food from scratch with wholesome natural ingredients, so you never have to worry about hidden chemicals or preservatives. Our food is being prepared in our kitchens almost all day, every day. It has to be, since we don’t freeze anything, or keep it for longer than necessary. We make it and serve it as soon as possible, day after day.”

Overall, Fresh on Front gets an A+ in my books. Great food, great location, great space, and great service.
