On the Road: Chicago | Kitchen 17 Deep Dish

A recent trip to Chicago brought me face to face with one of the most magnificent things I have ever seen.

This is the plant-based version of Chicago’s (in)famous Deep Dish and Kitchen 17 is serving this up by the pie.

At Kitchen 17 you order at the counter and BYOB.   This is a welcomed trend I seen throughout the city.

It was worth every penny.

The marinara sauce was sweet, garlicky and perfectly flavoured with herbs and spices.

The cheese was light and silky and the homemade sausage and seitan gave it a wonderful heavy texture that really pulled it all together.

It was a fucking masterpiece.

This pie is surprisingly light and I felt great after 3 slices.

I could’ve eaten more…. taken some for the road, and then gone back an eaten there 4 more times before I left….

However, there is more to life than pizza (I guess) and we had other places to be.

Chicago From the Hancock Tower. Pro Tip: If you find yourself here do not take the 360 Tour, instead, opt to go to the bar and enjoy an expesnive cocktail. you get the same view cheaper and boozier.

Kitchen 17 was definitely the highlight of my trip to Chicago. Definitely recommend this place!

See you at the next meal!
